While we were making Hoektoren | Tropenmuseum model we were left behind with all the tiny cut outs of doors and windows from the façades. Disposing these pieces would only add up to the garbage we create around us to which we wanted to give it a deeper thought. The material used in making of the model is acrylic sheet. It is a sort of plastic sheet which is not easily recycled. Being aware of this fact, we decided to up-cycle the pieces and make something memorable out of it.
After a few thoughts, we came up with an idea of making something that is wearable and precious. The size and shapes of these pieces led us to an idea of accessory making.
We are happy to announce the launch of accessory series “Tropenmuseum - Ornaments”.
The designs of each category is derived from the metal and stone ornamental details that is present on the façade of the Tropenmuseum.
This product is made as many as openings on the façades.
They are available at the museum shop of the Tropenmuseum and will be available on museum webshop from 2021.
